    Shiatsu news

A few bits & pieces going on at the moment for me, Shiatsu-wise.

As it’s the school Easter holidays I am having a week off Shiatsu next week. Back the week after Easter – the Wednesday is the 19th April
Then the following weekend I’ll be at North Devon Mind, Body, Spirit Festival – giving Shiatsu massage for just £15

I’m also going to be offering Shiatsu at Exeter Respect Festival, with some colleagues. Again this will be low cost sessions, so as many people can try it out as possible.

There are other events coming up later in the year too, details later.

The other news is that I will be moving from my current practice room, as we are building a Shiatsu space in our garden. A lovely timber structure, warm, dry & quiet. I can’t give a date for this move, as these projects tend to take longer than you would hope. Watch this space though & I will update as we progress.

Lots of Shiatsu things to look forward to this year xx

  • Small things

It’s the first day of the Easter holidays, down here in Exeter, Devon. We took our sons to a wood, which had an Easter trail to follow. There was no prize but stamps as we wentcto punch hipoles in their trail guides. We had a great time & I was reminded of the joy you can get from small things. Our boys walked slowly, they chatted to us about whatever they wanted. They enjoyed the gorse flower smell, like coconut, they sat quietly in the bird hides for long periods. They loved finding the stamps in the trail & the muddy puddles to splash in & the stoney slopes to run down.

I watched them sauntering & winding their way, stopping whenever they fancied, enjoying the beauty & nature of the woods around them. They just seemed happy & relaxed. It helped me be in the moment too, to take in the fresh air, to watch the birds, to listen to the noises of the woods. There is so much to be said about making the most of the small stuff, being in the moment . Also enjoying nature & the natural world. It was a special family day, even though it was just a trip to the woods. I’m hoping there is a lot more to come this holiday.

Shiatsu massage can bring you back into yourself, it can slow you down & help you reconnect to where you are & what is important to you. If you are interested in finding out more then do get in touch through the ‘contact me’ page.

  • Easter is coming – Shiatsu is having a break

Easter will be on us before we know it now. I found these Easter dudes in a charity shop today & decided I didn’t need to put them away for a week so they joined all the flowers I received for Mother’s Day on our mantel piece. It has been a tough school term for us, our first year of school & we are still building the stamina it takes for the whole family to make it through each term! I have decided to take a week’s holiday on the week running up to the Easter weekend. So no Shiatsu week commencing 10th April & back Tuesday 18th April.

We are going to spend the week visiting family. So although I am not offering Shiatsu here in Exeter one of my family members will probably ask for a quick treatment – it’s so often the case. We are so well supported by our families it’s actually the least I can do.

If you would like to know more about Shiatsu or would like to book a massage before I go on holiday then get in touch through the contact me page.

  • Shiatsu, Sunday’s & Mother’s Day

Well it’s been a special day today, the weather has been warm & sunny & we have celebrated Mother’s Day with my mum. This might not seem like anything out of the ordinary but this is the first year without my granny. She died last summer & although she was missed at Christmas it felt especially obvious that she is no longer around today. Granny somewhat dominated Mother’s Day, she insisted on presents & her two daughters spending the day with her. This is understandable but did mean my mum & aunty struggled to spend time with their own children on Mothering Sunday.

So today I made a pastry pie, my mum’s favourite & we spoilt her. My aunty also enjoyed a day with her children. We toasted granny & mothers & carers the we know or have known. It was important to us to remember the line of women we have each come from & also to acknowledge that you don’t have to be a mother or even a woman to hold the role of ‘mother.’ We had a moment of quietness to remember those people who weren’t with us, mother’s or whoever.

Mum was so happy basking in the warmth of the family, my sons love her & it’s so lovely to watch their relationship. Later in the afternoon I gave mum a short Shiatsu massage. This is such a special thing to be able to do for her. She loves it & I know it is not only nurturing but relaxing as well. A moment where I can support her. All in all a lovely day. I am so lucky to have a supportive & understanding mum & to be able to do just a little for her, pie & Shiatsu, meant a lot.

I have a Facebook page that you maybe interested in liking. I have events & offers that I advertise there. If you want to get in touch then please do through the ‘contact me’ page. I am always happy to talk Shiatsu. I work in Exwick, Exeter, Devon in a lovely calm & quiet practice room.

  • Shiatsu for children

Shiatsu massage is suitable for all & can be really helpful & positive for children. Children have issues, as do adults, & treating them energetically & holistically when young can help stop complaints becoming stagnant & chronic. Shiatsu massage is so gentle but is also powerful. It doesn’t take much to get the energy flowing & rebalancing in a child’s body. This can help the body learn & keep up healthy patterns. It can give confidence & focus.

Children are generally very responsive to Shiatsu & have a good result, both from a treatment & from Shiatsu for a specific issue. I use Shiatsu to relax & calm my sons before bed. I also use it, successfully, to help regular bowel movements, if there has been a delay or constipation. Sometimes my boys have experienced discomfort from digesting food, I have been able to ease this & also release trapped wind. These things are important for children!

I have supported older children through exam stress & times of unease & inabilty to make changes or decisions. I have also found Shiatsu massage successful with helping to speed up physical injuries such as twisted ankles & knees. It has also helped children with head ache & eye issues.

Shiatsu massage can be given to a whole family. Home visits can be arranged & prices can be negotiated. This is such a positive experience for the whole family unit & an absolute joy to give. If you are interested in finding out more about Shiatsu for children, family Shiatsu or self Shiatsu for yourself & your family then get in touch. Details are on the ‘contact me’ page.
