    Shiatsu Event – Exeter, Devon

Excited to be attending my first event of the year in just a couple of weeks time.  I’ll be offering Shiatsu taster sessions at the East Devon Mind, Body, Spirit event on Sunday February 18th.  The event is going to be held in Broadclyst, at the Victory Hall. The venue is near for Exeter folks & there is plenty of free parking.

If you have been reading my blog & wondering what Shiatsu is then a taster is a great way to find out what this hands-on therapy involves.  The tasters will only be £10 but 20 minutes long, plenty of time to get an idea of Shiatsu.

The Shiatsu tasters will be given on a massage chair, that supports your whole body, its relaxing & comfortable.  Normally Shiatsu is given on a futon mat on the floor but can be given on a couch or on a massage chair.  Shiatsu is always given through clothes.

Do come & say hello if you are in the area on the 18th.  If you are struggling to feel energized in this cold, wet weather then come & get a boost of energy with a Shiatsu taster.

Information about the event and the full list of exhibitors can be seen here

  • Sunshine & Shiatsu – Exeter, Devon

What a lovely morning today, here in Exeter (shame about the really rotten, wet, windy & cold afternoon.)

The sun shone down on the wooden cabin & streamed in through the windows.

The birds came out & enjoyed themselves, just outside the shed window. They were chirping & twittering, eating the seeds we had put out for them & hopping around to get the ones that had dropped to the floor.

It was a really joy giving treatments this morning. The shed was warm & cosy & listening to the birds was perfect.

What a pleasure giving such relaxing & nurturing treatments in such a perfect atmosphere. I definitely felt lucky that I do what I do!

  • New Year Motivation with Shiatsu – Exeter, Devon

New Year Motivation with Shiatsu – Exeter, Devon

I woke in the early hours of this morning with a start. For a long time Christmas had taken up all my brain power & now suddenly, in the middle of the night, I’d switched to thinking about the new year. Ideas spinning in my head about what I’d like to acheive in 2018, for myself & my family.

The new year is a good opportunity to focus on the things that are important to us & on what we would like to acheive. It is not always easy to organise our thoughts, or to keep our initial focus & drive up. Our energy is often lower in the colder winter months & this can stop us keeping our goals in sight.

Shiatsu massage sees symptoms like clarity of thought, lack of energy, inability to follow through with ideas, dis-organisation & tiredness as energetic imbalances. Shiatsu looks to balance the energies in the body & this can ease symptoms such as the above.

    Shiatsu massage is:

    • Relaxing
    • A quiet, supportive space
    • A good energy boost
    • Helpful for encouraging deeper sleep

    Clients have mentioned:

    • A sense of focus & determination after a treatment
    • An ability to acheive things with ease

I believe Shiatsu is the perfect support for clients looking to make changes in their lives. To help clients keep focus, drive & momentum. Shiatsu can help support stress & anxiety, which can hold us up.

How do I feel today? Excited about the new year, determined to push through with my personal goals (although already a little apprehensive about keeping them up.) Yes I know better book myself a Shiatsu! I love giving Shiatsu so hoping there’s a lot of that in 2018.

I offer Shiatsu in Exeter. I practice Shiatsu in a wooden cabin in the garden of our home in Exwick, Exeter, the natural wood is perfect for this form of therapy.

Wishing you all a positive, happy & productive 2018. May your dreams be bright & beautiful & come true with splendour.

  • Shiatsu for Stress & Anxiety

    Shiatsu for Stress & Anxiety

It is the season to be stressed, isn’t it? There’s nothing like the festive season to bring out the stress. So much to do & so little time to do it.

Stress & anxiety are by-products of our society. We have so much to do, we’ve forgotten to feel the seasons & just push through the cold winter months as if the days are long & the weather is ok!

Shiatsu can help ease mental stress & strain:

    • Shiatsu by-passes the analytical & allows the body to sense how it feels.
    • The nervous system can be calmed by the strong connective touch of Shiatsu.
    • Shiatsu promotes deep & restful sleep, allowing the body to recover from the day
    • Extra energy after a Shiatsu can give the client resolve & focus
    • Shiatsu creates a safe & secure environment that can give a good level of support to a client
    • Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing & calming treatment

There are no spaces before Christmas now but I am back in the new year.

I have gift vouchers available for Christmas – & still just possible to get these sent out.

  • What does a Shiatsu involve? Exeter, Devon

Shiatsu is a relaxing but energising treatment. It is a hands on therapy given through clothes & on a futon mat on the floor. Although it can be given on a chair or couch if it maybe difficult to get down or back up from the floor.

Shiatsu is an all over body treatment, it can be focused specially on one area of the body. Similarly the whole body can be treated from one area. Each treatment is specially tailored to that person on that day. Every Shiatsu is different.Shiatsu massage uses the same points & meridians, lines of energy, that acupuncture uses. Shiatsu looks to balance the energy in body. This balance can ease pain, symptoms & provide support.
Clients have mentioned that they feel more energy after a treatment, that they feel more focussed & have more drive, that they have had relief from symptoms, that they have slept better, needed the loo less, had better joint flexibility.Shiatsu is a safe & secure environment & is totally confidential. It can help support emotional distress, stress, anxiety & depression. I have clients who have come with work related stress & also people who are going through big changes in their personal lives.I work in Exwick, Exeter & I’m also happy to discuss Shiatsu so do get in touch with any questions, through the ‘contact me’page.

  • Can Shiatsu massage help with stress & Anxiety? Exeter, Devon

Can Shiatsu massage help with stress & Anxiety? Exeter, Devon

Yes is the simple answer. Shiatsu is a supportive & secure hands on therapy & creates the right environment for supporting clients who have feelings of anxiety or are suffering from stress.

We hold our stresses in our bodies & Shiatsu massage provides a space where this can be felt. It doesn’t have to be discussed it is simply how it feels. Getting this sensation can allow the tension, stress & anxiety to release & the body to relax. Where the body goes the mind follows.

There is some research of what Shiatsu can be good for. This link gives info on what benefits can be gained from a Shiatsu massage. This link provides information on the current research regarding Shiatsu.

If you think Shiatsu may be of help to you do get in touch – though the ‘contact me’ page. I work in Exeter.

Wishes to you all for a relaxed evening & a peaceful night’s sleep.

  • Introducing Shiatsu to Devon!

    Introducing Shiatsu to Devon!

I spent the whole day at a lovely fair in Budleigh Salterton giving tasters of Shiatsu massage today.

Tasters are the perfect way to give people an idea of what a Shiatsu involves, particularly as it’s a very affordable way to get some massage.

Shiatsu is a powerful form of therapy & can have quite an effect in a short period of time.

I really believe in Shiatsu, enough to complete the 3 years of training, so I love letting new people know about it.

There were some great comments from people who had tasters, they felt relaxed but with more energy, their tension had eased dramatically, their pain had eased, they thought it was quite an amazing taster.

A day like this is worth the hassle of trying to get out of the house, endless final kisses for the kids, lunches for everyone ready, everything I need for the day crammed in the car, only having to come back to get one thing I’d forgotten!

I felt so energised from the day that I whizzed through my chores when I got home & had plenty of energy to spend some fun time with my boys.

I hope that the people I treated all went home with the energy to achieve whatever they wanted/ needed to do.  Got to love Shiatsu.

  • Shiatsu for Stress, Exeter, Devon

    Shiatsu for Stress, Exeter, Devon

Stress can dramatically affect people’s lives & it is a hard thing to manage on your own. Shiatsu is a supportive form of hands-on therapy that may help with stress, anxiety & other emotional distress.

At the beginning of a Shiatsu treatment there is a quick consultation, then as much hands-on treatment as time allows. There is little or no discussion whilst the treatment takes place, giving the client a chance to listen to their body, to feel where & how the stress is affecting them. As Shiatsu provides a safe & secure space, feelings, emotions, distress can be released, generally with a sense of relief or of positive release.

Our bodies hold a physical imprint of the stresses & strains we experience in life, sometimes it is important to talk through these issues, sometimes it is helpful to just feel them & sometimes using a talking therapy alongside a hands-on therapy can be helpful. Shiatsu can involve a level of conversation if the client requests it, I have had clients who have found greater release in discussing what they are experiencing as the massage goes along.

I have experienced clients build a sense of control & confidence after a few Shiatsu treatments. Instead of feeling that they are at the mercy of their condition or situation they feel they are taking action to make changes. Shiatsu is such a supportive therapy, they can build their confidence up knowing they have a space which is confidential & constructive.

Shiatsu works to balance the energies in the body. As these energies come into balance there can be a greater sense of flow & movement in the body, mind & emotions. Clients have commented that they felt energized & revitalized after a Shiatsu massage. This new found energy, alongside a safe space, can allow people to feel confident enough to start making changes, break patterns & learn new ways to support themselves.

If you are interested in discussing if Shiatsu may of help to you then do get in touch, details on the ‘contact me’ page. I’m always happy to talk Shiatsu. I work in Exwick, Exeter, in Devon.

  • Shiatsu & the Emotions, Exeter, Devon

Shiatsu & the Emotions, Exeter, Devon

Shiatsu is a physical hands-on therapy but it can be really effective at supporting people on an emotional level.

Shiatsu massage is gentle but powerful, it isn’t analytical, you don’t have to think or talk through your feelings, it allows the client to see how they feel in their body. This at times can bring emotions to the forefront, it can allow reflection & or release.

When emotions or emotional memories come up Shiatsu provides a safe & secure space to feel them. Often a client feels a sense of relief, even if the emotion is a difficult one or is associated with a difficult time or situation.

Today I decided that in each of my Shiatsu massages I would focus on using a ‘heart energy’ touch. This relates to 5 Element diagnosis, which is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine & is used within Shiatsu as a form of diagnosis. Each of the 5 elements has a type of touch that relates to it. Because I seen so much nurturing & love being given to the smallest children starting school, at my son’s school, this morning I thought the heart touch would be a good focus for the day.

This type of touch is nurturing & supportive, it is warming & comforting, it is un-judgemental & without demand or expectation. It is a great touch to allow the client to feel safe & secure, to feel comfortable with exploring what emotions they maybe holding in their body.

I had a special day of Shiatsu today, it is a privilege to be part of a healing process & to hold a space for people to get the support they need. I hope to have many more heart-felt, warm & kind days.
