Shiatsu This Weekend – Exeter, Dawlish, Exmouth, Devon

It is very busy Shiatsu wise at the moment, just the way I like it.  This weekend is no different, I have a Shiatsu surgery tomorrow & I have a new event on Sunday.  Also I have some spaces left in the week before Easter.

I am only able to work some Saturdays so then ones I do work I try to get in as many Shiatsu’s as I can.  Once I have taken into consideration family commitments & my husband working some Saturdays there aren’t so many left.  However I offer as many as I can for those of you tied into a Monday to Friday working week.  Perfect to have a tension-busting, deeply-relaxing, stress-relieving Shiatsu at the end of a long week.  I do also offer early evening appointments on Mondays & Wednesdays.

Then on Sunday I am attending the Holistic Day at the David Lloyd Gym here in Exeter.  All the therapists are offering tasters for £10 & all money is going to charity.  This event is open to members & non-members – some of the appointments are already booked up but there are still some spaces.  The event details can be found here

If you are looking at my page for the first time & want to know more about Shiatsu then have a look at various pages on this site. Also have a look at the Shiatsu Society website for their info.

Have a good weekend whatever you have planned.

Shiatsu for Easter, Forget the Eggs! Exeter, Dawlish, Exmouth, Devon

Easter seems to have crept up quickly this year, what with the unseasonably cold weather & the regular snow days.  I don’t know about you but for us Easter is fairly busy, particularly if you include the two weeks of school holidays.  We have lots of catching up with family & various trips & activities planned.

If you are in a similar situation it may be a good idea to grab yourself a Shiatsu – either in preparation for the break or as a breather in the midst of it all.  Shiatsu is serious down time, a space for you & just you.  There are no expectations or demands, it’s easy you simply have to lie & rest. It is a very relaxing form of therapy.

Shiatsu is also energising, it can really help with energy levels & when that happens everything seems to be a little easier. Rather than feeling like you are pushing through treacle to get a mammoth list of jobs done you can start knocking those Easter jobs off.

Shiatsu has also been shown to help with stress & anxiety & maybe you are feeling some of this is coming your way over Easter, or that you are prone to anxious bouts. Shiatsu can ease the body, mind & spirit.  It is a very supportive treatment, allowing the tension to release.

I have appointments still available before Easter in Exeter.  I work in a solid wood cabin in my garden, which I have fondly nicknamed the ‘Shiatsu Shed.’ It is a perfect haven for a peaceful & relaxing Shiatsu, but close to the city centre & train station & easy parking.

The week following the Easter weekend I have appointments in Exeter & Dawlish.  I love working with a group of other therapists down in Dawlish, in a space called The Studio.  The space is right next to a carpark & a very short walk from the town centre or the train station.

If you can’t find the time in the next two weeks then maybe book in for after the madness! I have spaces in Exeter, Dawlish & Exmouth in the last two weeks of April, after the school holidays.

I’m always happy to talk Shiatsu so do get in touch through the ‘Contact Me’ page with any queries.

Shiatsu, Spring & Snow, Exeter, Dawlish, Exmouth, Devon

Well no-one really thought we would get more snow – but here it is – with us again.       img_20180318_123141801203010.jpg

It was so warm & sunny on Friday, it felt like Spring was here but Winter was not done with us yet.  We have a snow day tomorrow which is great extra family time but I am ready to be working, giving uplifting Shiatsu’s.

Spring is a good time of the year, there are ideas in the air & lots of opportunities starting to appear alongside the plants shoots out of the ground.  However this year we still need to be in hibernation mood, there is a need for warmth & supportive treatments still.  When the Spring energy does start to show itself it may be a difficult transition.

Shiatsu is adaptable & tailored specifically to the person & their needs & condition that day.  I imagine that I may be giving Winter warming Shiatsu’s on Tuesday & supportive Spring Shiatsu’s by the end of the week.

Whatever the weather Shiatsu is a relaxing treatment & can help with energy levels & healthy sleep.  It has been shown to hep with anxiety & stress.  It is a unique form of therapy, that is supportive, holding the client in a very gentle but secure way.  Shiatsu touch can release tension but also emotional stresses & strains held in the body.

I have some spaces still available next week – Monday afternoon, Tuesday morning & Wednesday – so you could sneak in a Shiatsu before Easter.  These appointments are in Exeter.  I am full in Dawlish this week but back there early April.

Hope you are warm & cozy wherever you are.

Shiatsu for Pain, Exeter, Dawlish & Exmouth, Devon

For those of you who don’t know Shiatsu is a form of hands-on therapy. It’s a bit like a massage, it uses massage techniques, but it is always given through clothing.  Shiatsu is generally given on a futon mat on the floor but can be given on a couch or massage chair. It is a very relaxing treatment that can also leave a client feeling energised.

Shiatsu is suitable for all & can help with a great number of conditions. It can be helpful for long-term care & can have preventative benefits.  I have had clients who have come for Shiatsu for various physical conditions including back ache, arthritis, hip issues, frozen shoulder, Sciatica & pelvic issues.

Shiatsu can also be helpful for emotional & mental concerns such as stress & anxiety. I have had clients come with issues such as work related stress, relationship breakdown or issues, high levels of anxiety & depression.

Pain is a common issue that people come for Shiatsu for, whether it is due to a recent accident or injury or a more chronic condition.  Clients have found that Shiatsu has helped ease pain levels for some period after a treatment.   Generally the pain relief lasts for longer & longer periods of time, as the client has more sessions.  In my experience Shiatsu seems to have a very positive effect on joint pain, whether that is Arthritis or an injury or another issue.

Clients have often expressed that the mental strain of pain is almost as bad as the actual pain itself.  Particularly if someone has lived with pain for a long period of time it can become an almost unbearable strain. Shiatsu is a very supportive treatment & it can provide comfort to the client, they may feel that they don’t have to manage it completely on their own.  Shiatsu can also help with energy levels & with a little more energy a client may feel they have the resources to be able to make changes & not feel that the pain is in control of them.

I love giving Shiatsu & hearing, from clients, about the positive effects it has for them.  If you would like to hear about events & offers then please like my Facebook page.  If you have any questions then do get in touch through the Contact Me page.

Shiatsu musings, Exeter, Dawlish & Exmouth, Devon

I have had a lovely day learning how to give Ginger Compress treatments.  They are an amazing remedy that creates warmth in the body.  The compress warms the kidneys, which are the burners for the body, energising the whole system. They can help alleviate a number of symptoms.

I love learning new skills & catching up with Shiatsu colleagues. Professional development courses are so important, for gaining new skills, but also for bringing new ideas & life to your practice.  I am really looking forward to the Shiatsu treatments I will be giving this week.

I am in Exeter this week but also, on Friday, I have my first pop-up day in Exmouth. I’m really excited about bringing Shiatsu to Exmouth.  Next week, as always I will be in Exeter & I have spaces on Tuesday & Wednesday.  I am also in Dawlish on Friday 23rd & I have spaces at midday & 1pm still available.

Shiatsu is a gentle but powerful form of hands-on therapy. It is suitable for everyone & is tailored to meet the needs of that client at that time.  It can be good for physical aliments as well as emotional & mental stresses & strains. Shiatsu is very relaxing but can also help with energy levels. Shiatsu can aid sleep & help with anxiety, stress & depression.

So a busy week of treatments for me.  I love giving Shiatsu & I’m always happy to discuss it if you have any queries. You can get in touch through the ‘Contact Me’ page.

Have a good week everyone.

Shiatsu after the snow, Exeter, Dawlish, Exmouth, Devon

Wow what a lot of snow we got this week. 4 inches in a day brought Exeter to a standstill. Our young boys had a field day, sledging down the middle of our normally busy road.

Almost as quickly as it happened it has nearly completely gone. Temperatures have returned to to normal for this time of year, the rain has returned & the snow is only in the corners & under the trees.

After an enjoyable break from normal life, so few cars & people with time to stop & chat, now this week is back to normal.

I am practicing in Exeter & Dawlish this week. I have spaces on Tuesday & Wednesday in Exeter for either Shiatsu or Natural Face Lift Massage treatments.

I also have a Saturday clinic this Saturday & have spaces available at 2pm & 3.15. This will be in the real wood cabin in my garden in Exwick, Exeter. It’s the perfect space for a relaxing treatment.

Also this Sunday is Mother’s Day & I can send gift vouchers electronically if you want to treat your special mother to a Shiatsu or Natural Face Lift Massage.

So back into the swing of things – I missed giving Shiatsu over the snowy days so looking forward to a full week of nurturing & energising treatments.

I’m always happy to discuss Shiatsu so do get in touch through the ‘Contact Me’ page with any questions.

Have a good week everyone.

Shiatsu for Everyone, Exeter, Dawlish & Exmouth, Devon

Shiatsu is a gentle but powerful hands-on therapy that originates from Japan. It is a bit like a massage, using similar techniques to a massage but always given through clothes. Shiatsu is generally given on a futon mat on the floor, but it can be given on a couch or seated if needs be.

Shiatsu can be a very slow & gentle treatment, working one part of the body for a long time, it is nourishing & tonifying. It can be, when appropriate a more active treatment, with stretches & rotations. Clients often comment on how nice it is to have someone stretch them.  The stretches & rotations relieve the tension they feel, often in their neck & shoulder area.

Shiatsu meets clients how they want to me met, which can make it a very satisfying form of therapy.  It is tailored to that client on that day, every Shiatsu is different because of this.

I love giving Shiatsu as is it so adaptable, to each client every time they come.  Also it is a treatment that is suitable for anyone & everyone.  I have given children Shiatsu, they absolutely soak it up. I have also given Shiatsu to whole families, to the parents & the children, it’s a really lovely thing to give Shiatsu to everyone. I have older clients, some of whom need to have their treatment on a couch or massage chair. They have commented on the changes they have experienced from having Shiatsu, that the treatment is very gentle but the benefits are large.

In my experience Shiatsu can be very beneficial for physical issues, accidents, injuries, pain.  It has been found to have long term care & preventative benefits. It can also help with emotional & mental issues & concerns.  It has been shown to help with stress, anxiety & depression.  I have had clients who have come because they are suffering with work-related stress, they have issues in their relationship, they have had a big life change.

Shiatsu has also been found to support deep relaxation, aid healthy sleep & improve energy levels. These three benefits can have big effects on all areas of a life.  Symptoms can ease, mental & emotional strain can be relieved & the body can move with more ease & fluidity.

If you would like to discuss if Shiatsu may be able to help support you then do get in touch through the ‘Contact Me’ page or call me on 07791 070837.  I am always happy to talk Shiatsu.  I practice in Exwick, Exeter every week & in Dawlish every other Friday.  I have pop-up events in Exmouth.

Like my Facebook page to keep up to date with events & offers. Head to the Shiatsu Society website for the information they have about Shiatsu.

Baby it’s Cold Outside! Shiatsu for warmth, Exeter, Dawlish & Exmouth, Devon

Woweee it’s as cold as they said it was going to be – my the wind is bitter & the cold is so sharp it gets into the bones & the core of the body.  It is showing up any old aches & pains & is so tiring, to get through the day & to keep the body burning enough to ward off the cold.

I am in Exeter this week, giving warming & energizing Shiatsu & I still have some spaces available – on Wednesday & Friday.  The Shiatsu Shed, the wooden cabin in my garden, is super cosy.  I have plenty of heaters & an electric blanket so getting on the mat & under the blanket can feel like getting into bed.

Shiatsu is a gentle hands-on therapy that looks to balance the energy in the body.  It can create a warmth in the core of the body & help with circulation right to the extremities. It can support the body’s natural immune system, to ward off coughs & colds.  Shiatsu can help with energy levels, providing more resources, to generate heat, & energy for movement, vital in this cold weather. It may also help to ease the aches & pains that show up in this bitter cold weather.

I work in Dawlish every other Friday & I am going to have a pop-up Shiatsu day next month.  This week I am at home in Exeter – if you would like a warming Shiatsu do get it touch through the ‘Contact Me’ page – I’m always happy to answer any questions too.

Keep warm this week:

  • Wear an extra pair of socks & even a pair in bed
  • Wrap a scarf around your lower back – keeping your Kidneys & Sacrum warm
  • Make a warming cup of fresh Ginger, Lemon & Honey
  • Wear a good hat & scarf around neck & dropped to also cover the chest
