  • Shiatsu, November and Good News – Exeter, Devon

After looking at government guidance it’s become clear that I can still offer Shiatsu this month.

Some of my clients had been saying that for them Shiatsu was essential – particularly having had a break from it earlier in the year. And now I can continue to work with them.

Obviously it is good news but what another period of adjustment! First I’m adjusting to the idea of no work – I get used to the idea if a break and now I can work again.

This year has been so much about being able to roll with the punches and make the best of the situation. But it can be tiring though- right?

I also completely understand that for some people staying at home is absolutely the right thing to do – that some people want to wait for a Shiatsu until after this lockdown.

Another theme of this year is that everyone has to do exactly what they feel they want and need to do. We have learned to respect each others choices and decisions. To me this is such a positive thing.

So I’m here if you need me and want to come to me. Otherwise see you in December.

  • Shiatsu, the Menopause and Peri-Menopausal symptoms – Exeter Devon

I am now in my mid forties and I feel like each morning and now watch myself age. I see more grey hairs and looser skin around my neck. I’m ok with this really.

Image may contain: one or more people

I am also aware of changing inside my body. My menstrual cycle in changing and so is the way by body reacts to excess food intake (this is a no-no now!)

In the past couple of years there has also been moments of full-on emotional strain. They talk about a mid-life crisis and now I have begun to understand what they mean. Suddenly I felt like I had run out of time to do anything else in my life, that my work life was nearly at an end and that I hadn’t achieved anything.

Once I calmed myself down I remembered all the things that I had done. I also realised that I am in a good place, doing a job that I love and loving bringing my kids up. I also remembered that I have years ahead of me, hopefully, and that people continue to strive towards goals and achieve them at all sorts of ages.

I am affected by hormonal imbalances in my body. I am now very much Peri-Menopausal. In the last couple of years I have attracted more clients of my own age and a little older. The women are all showing imbalances that have been diagnosed or suggest they are going through the Menopause or Per-Menopausal. The men are feeling unsettled and unbalanced in themselves and their personal and or working lives.

Shiatsu is great for helping to balance out any imbalance, be in physical, mental or emotional. It can help eased symptoms related to the Menopause. It can allow the client to feel that they have options again, that their symptoms aren’t taking over their life.

I can’t wait to get back to giving hands-on Shiatsu treatments and supporting women going through this process. It can be a challenging phase of life but it is a time of change and this can bring new beginnings and perspectives.

  • Baby it’s Cold Outside! Shiatsu for warmth, Exeter, Devon

Baby it’s Cold Outside! Shiatsu for warmth, Exeter, Devon

Woweee it’s as cold as they said it was going to be – my the wind is bitter & the cold is so sharp it gets into the bones & the core of the body. It is showing up any old aches & pains & is so tiring, to get through the day & to keep the body burning enough to ward off the cold.

I am in Exeter this week, giving warming & energizing Shiatsu & I still have some spaces available – on Wednesday & Friday. The Shiatsu Shed, the wooden cabin in my garden, is super cosy. I have plenty of heaters & an electric blanket so getting on the mat & under the blanket can feel like getting into bed.

Shiatsu is a gentle hands-on therapy that looks to balance the energy in the body. It can create a warmth in the core of the body & help with circulation right to the extremities. It can support the body’s natural immune system, to ward off coughs & colds. Shiatsu can help with energy levels, providing more resources, to generate heat, & energy for movement, vital in this cold weather. It may also help to ease the aches & pains that show up in this bitter cold weather. This week I am at home in Exeter – if you would like a warming Shiatsu do get it touch through the ‘Contact Me’ page – I’m always happy to answer any questions too.

    Keep warm this week:

    • Wear an extra pair of socks & even a pair in bed
    • Wrap a scarf around your lower back – keeping your Kidneys & Sacrum warm
    • Make a warming cup of fresh Ginger, Lemon & Honey
    • Wear a good hat & scarf around neck & dropped to also cover the chest

  • What does a Shiatsu involve? Exeter, Devon

Shiatsu is a relaxing but energising treatment. It is a hands on therapy given through clothes & on a futon mat on the floor. Although it can be given on a chair or couch if it maybe difficult to get down or back up from the floor.

Shiatsu is an all over body treatment, it can be focused specially on one area of the body. Similarly the whole body can be treated from one area. Each treatment is specially tailored to that person on that day. Every Shiatsu is different.Shiatsu massage uses the same points & meridians, lines of energy, that acupuncture uses. Shiatsu looks to balance the energy in body. This balance can ease pain, symptoms & provide support.
Clients have mentioned that they feel more energy after a treatment, that they feel more focussed & have more drive, that they have had relief from symptoms, that they have slept better, needed the loo less, had better joint flexibility.Shiatsu is a safe & secure environment & is totally confidential. It can help support emotional distress, stress, anxiety & depression. I have clients who have come with work related stress & also people who are going through big changes in their personal lives.I work in Exwick, Exeter & I’m also happy to discuss Shiatsu so do get in touch with any questions, through the ‘contact me’page.
