  • Shiatsu Courses, Exeter, Devon

I am really enjoying offering courses in the “Shiatsu Shed” in Exeter, Devon. The space is perfect for a relaxing and supportive treatment but also big enough to hold small workshop groups.

Shiatsu is a very supportive and nurturing form of therapy, that is tailored to the individual. Because the course numbers are limited they also offer a high level of support and guidance, and can be easily tailored to the participants.

The two courses I have run already have been adapted to suit the participants that day. One course became focused on how to support oneself as a carer, and how to use Shiatsu to support someone you care for. The other course focused on how to support oneself as a massage therapist and how Shiatsu can help you find inspiration in your own practice. The second course would work just as well for yoga teachers, reflexology practitioners, acupuncture therapists, counsellors and any other therapists.

In past careers I have always found myself drawn to the training and development aspect of a role. I have gained a fair amount of experience in delivering training and mentoring others. So it feels very special to be able to bring those skills into my Shiatsu business.

I hope to offer more courses in the new year. I am excited to see what type of courses I end up developing and who I am approached by.

The courses are offered in Exeter, Devon, although I can travel. They can be tailored for therapists of all types, massage, yoga, counselling. They can also be for carers, both professional and those who care for family members. The courses would also suit those interested in self care and self development. They would suit a group of colleagues interested in team building, or a professional organisation keen to offer self care and support to their employees.

The courses are designed to provide a basic knowledge of what Shiatsu is, how to support yourself and how to give Shiatsu to friends and family. Numbers are always small and the prices are affordable.

  • Shiatsu Massage this Saturday & Sunday – North Devon

Shiatsu Massage this Saturday & Sunday – North Devon

It’s nearly time for me to be heading up to the north of this beautiful county, to be an exhibitor at the North Devon Mind, Body, Soul Festival.  It was such a joy to give lots of Shiatsu taster sessions there last year so I can’t wait to do it again this year.

To me it felt like a very special event, there are simply loads of exhibitors & an incredible buzz about the place. It was such a welcoming, open & positive event & i would say well worth a trip.

It’s on Saturday & Sunday, 10am till 4pm.  Shiatsu taster sessions are 30 minutes long & £20. For information on the the event or to book in advance head to the Big Sheep Website

Maybe I’ll see some of you there, to get a first taste of Shiatsu or to get a really cheap but pretty long treatment.  If you would like to know more about Shiatsu or me have a look at my ‘About Shiatsu’ page or my ‘About Me’ page. I also have a Facebook page, which you can like to hear about events & offers.

Have a good weekend whatever you plans.

  • Shiatsu & Well-being – Exeter, Devon

    Shiatsu & Well-being – Exeter, Devon

Shiatsu is a gentle form of hands-on therapy. It is based in Traditional Chinese Medicine & uses the same pressure points & Meridians (lines of energy) as Acupucture. It uses the 5 Element diagnosis system, an Eastern, holistic form of understanding the body, mind & spirit.

Shiatsu also uses touch as a form of diagnosis, the practioner follows what they feel, or what they pick up, as they move around the body. Shiatsu is always tailored to that client, on that day, so every treatment is different. It can be a quiet & holding treatment &, when appropriate, it can be a more physical & energetic treatment.

Because of its approach Shiatsu is a very supportive therapy & can help with well-being & energy levels. It meets the client how & where they want to be met, it can meet them on a physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual level. Shiatsu works to balance the energy in the body, when there is balance there can be relief from symptoms & a sense of wellness.

I am offering tasters at an event on Sunday – a good opportunity to try this relaxing yet energising therapy out. The event is in Broadclyst, near Exeter, from 10.30 till 4.30. More details can be found on my Facebook page.

  • Shiatsu Event – Exeter, Devon

    Shiatsu Event – Exeter, Devon

Excited to be attending my first event of the year in just a couple of weeks time.  I’ll be offering Shiatsu taster sessions at the East Devon Mind, Body, Spirit event on Sunday February 18th.  The event is going to be held in Broadclyst, at the Victory Hall. The venue is near for Exeter folks & there is plenty of free parking.

If you have been reading my blog & wondering what Shiatsu is then a taster is a great way to find out what this hands-on therapy involves.  The tasters will only be £10 but 20 minutes long, plenty of time to get an idea of Shiatsu.

The Shiatsu tasters will be given on a massage chair, that supports your whole body, its relaxing & comfortable.  Normally Shiatsu is given on a futon mat on the floor but can be given on a couch or on a massage chair.  Shiatsu is always given through clothes.

Do come & say hello if you are in the area on the 18th.  If you are struggling to feel energized in this cold, wet weather then come & get a boost of energy with a Shiatsu taster.

Information about the event and the full list of exhibitors can be seen here

  • Shiatsu Support – Exeter, Devon

So very excited to receive a large parcel in the post today.

I was pretty upset when my trusty, but bottom of the range, massage chair broke just before Christmas. I was in the middle of a session of Shiatsus for the hard working staff at my son’s school. I had to give some of the Shiatsus to people whilst they sat on a normal chair. Hardly relaxing, having to support yourself, rather than leaning into a comfy chair.

Since the breakage I have been searching for a replacement. I was close to purchasing a replacement of similar quality to my original when I stumbled across a hardly used, top of the range chair.

I am super happy & have tried it out on my family already. It’s really comfy & easily adjusts to fit any shape or size of client.

So watch out for upcoming events as I will now be giving Shiatsu on this beauty of a chair.

My next event is in Broadclyst, near Exeter – details can be found here

  • Introducing Shiatsu to Devon!

    Introducing Shiatsu to Devon!

I spent the whole day at a lovely fair in Budleigh Salterton giving tasters of Shiatsu massage today.

Tasters are the perfect way to give people an idea of what a Shiatsu involves, particularly as it’s a very affordable way to get some massage.

Shiatsu is a powerful form of therapy & can have quite an effect in a short period of time.

I really believe in Shiatsu, enough to complete the 3 years of training, so I love letting new people know about it.

There were some great comments from people who had tasters, they felt relaxed but with more energy, their tension had eased dramatically, their pain had eased, they thought it was quite an amazing taster.

A day like this is worth the hassle of trying to get out of the house, endless final kisses for the kids, lunches for everyone ready, everything I need for the day crammed in the car, only having to come back to get one thing I’d forgotten!

I felt so energised from the day that I whizzed through my chores when I got home & had plenty of energy to spend some fun time with my boys.

I hope that the people I treated all went home with the energy to achieve whatever they wanted/ needed to do.  Got to love Shiatsu.
